Scarborough Public School
The purpose of our Enterprise Project is to promote the development of initiative and self-regulated learning in our students through a problem-based learning program. From our driving question, ‘How can we start up a successful enterprise to meet the needs of our community?’ students made their own connections across STEM curriculums and applied them to real world situations. This approach has significantly changed practice in our school. Student engagement has been exceptional and this has led to significant lightbulb moments around having a real purpose to units of work but also learning that the process is so much more important than the final product. This process has often provoked more questions than complete answers, which we feel is appropriate at this point of ambitious change. This really must be viewed as the beginning of a journey for us which is going to require considerable evaluation, reflection and refinement as we progress.
